Asymmetric Synthesis of Boronic Ester Heterocycles
About the Project
Boron containing molecules are of high value, as they have many applications in chemical synthesis, materials science, and catalysis. This PhD will research new ways in which to make boron-containing heterocycles - cyclic compounds which contain one or more boron atoms. The aims of the project will be to develop chemical methods to prepare the new organoboron compounds, and explore the chemical and physical properties of these molecules, particularly with applications in the area of organic synthesis in mind. This will involve developing and applying skills in organic synthesis, catalysis and organoboron chemistry, areas in which the Partridge group have much expertise.
