Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi – About the Role
Ara is looking for an Autobody Painting Tutor to share their expertise and guide learners as they develop the essential skills needed for a successful career in autobody refinishing. Autobody Tutors teach the core refinishing and collision repair techniques to learners preparing to enter the industry, using industry standard tools and well equipped, purpose built training facilities. This learning is delivered through high quality, hands on educational practice that sets students up for real world success.
As an Academic Staff Member in Autobody Painting, you’ll teach, mentor, and support learners across autobody refinishing programmes using industry‑standard tools and purpose‑built facilities. You’ll design and deliver engaging learning, assess learner progress, embed kaupapa Māori, and help prepare graduates for successful careers in the collision repair and refinishing industry. You'll also contribute to programme development, industry connections, and the wider academic community at Ara.
This role gives you the chance to work with learners at all stages of their journey, shaping the next generation of refinishing professionals.
No teaching experience? No problem — we provide full support to complete your Level 5 teaching qualification at no cost, while you work. This is your opportunity to give back to the industry and pass on your passion for autobody craftsmanship.
