"Automotive Services Technology Unlimited Full Time Instructor (Field 500162)"

This position represents SCTCC’s commitment to serving its community by partnering and investing in students as they attain the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to serve the Saint Cloud and surrounding communities. This position is a full-time position teaching from approximately mid-August through early June. This position is on-site and class times vary but are typically held Monday through Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Facilitate student learning in both classroom and lab settings.
• Collaborate with colleagues and students, to cultivate an inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive learning environment.
• Design and revise the curriculum to meet the needs of ever-changing automotive service industry trends.
• Carries out SCTCC’s Mission to “provide the education, training, and support necessary for equitable participation in our society, economy, and democracy.
• Engage in college committees and activities in support of SCTCC’s vision to serve as “a community of learners rooted in meaningful relationships where everyone belongs and thrives.
• Provide holistic support designed to foster student success and the development of students’ engagement in lifelong learning.
• Support continuous improvement efforts utilizing assessment data to bolster ASE accreditation efforts and to improve student learning by closing equity and institutional performance gaps.
• Collaborate with faculty colleagues to build and maintain local industry partnerships.

Initial Salary Placement Range: $44,144 - $73,690
Salary dependent on qualifications of candidate (Based upon qualifications, view 2024 - 2025 MSCF Contract for additional information)

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement
Post-secondary diploma or equivalent certificate in automotive services technology.

Occupational Experience Requirement
Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in automotive service technology.

Recency Requirement
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Professional Requirement
Current ASE certification in the areas in which the faculty member is teaching.

Faculty shall have a degree in education or three years of successful full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience prior to being hired, or shall be required to complete coursework in the above content areas (or their equivalent) prior to being granted unlimited status.
* These courses shall be waived for individuals who at the time of hire have: a degree in education, or have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework in the specified teaching and learning content areas, or have three years of successful, full-time (or equivalent) secondary, postsecondary, industry, or trade apprenticeship teaching experience in the field for which they are being hired. ** This course shall be waived for individuals who, at the time of hire, have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework. (Procedure 3.32.1 College Faculty Credentialing, Part 5, Subpart B.3)

Preferred Qualification

• Experience integrating simulation-based learning technologies into curriculum
• Teaching experience at the postsecondary level, preferably at a two-year college
• Prior on-line experience using D2L Brightspace platform or equivalent information management system
• Demonstrated commitment to quality instruction and continuous improvement
• Ability to work with a diverse student body with a broad range of interests and abilities
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and peers
• Experience in curriculum development at the professional level
• Effective planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Bilingual/multilingual in Spanish, Somali, French, Hmong, or other languages that reflect our student body, workforce, and communities
• Multiple ASE Certifications or ability to obtain required certifications within 1 year

Other Requirements

In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges Universities (Minnesota State) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
