Job Description:
Shop Foreman for School of Aviation's aircraft fleet. Performs aircraft inspections on all aircraft.
Duties:
- Performs aircraft inspection on aircraft, aircraft engine, prop, and any related equipment in or on the aircraft.
- Performs any needed inspections for away-from-home aircraft.
- Performs any maintenance checks on aircraft required prior to aircraft launch.
- Evaluates any maintenance for scheduled flyers for a go/no go launch.
- Performs any required maintenance not completed from home away station.
- Inspects aircraft prior to release for continued service. Completes aircraft maintenance logs for release.
- Researches all required documents as issued by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for continued airworthiness of aircraft.
- Completes ground ops check on aircraft prior to release.
- Assigns duties to technicians and assistants.
- Performs post flight inspections for all aircraft prior to launch.
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience: Trade School Certification, AND:
- 36 months experience in aircraft maintenance management.
Skills:
- Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Read and understand complex written materials such as blueprints, metrics or technical manuals.
- Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.
- Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to produce reports and complete work within deadlines.
- Strong initiative to solve problems.
Certifications:
- FAA Inspection Authorization.
- Airframe, power plant, corrosion control specialization.
- Oklahoma Drivers License.
Working Conditions:
Physical:
- Ability to pull, push, crouch, crawl and stand.
- Lift up to 25 lbs. Vision, including color, depth perception, and clarity.
- Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
- Manual dexterity.
Environmental:
- Regular exposure to disagreeable conditions, extreme temperature changes, odors and loud noises.
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment.
Departmental Preferences:
- Advanced knowledge of how to repair and inspect aircraft.
- Advanced knowledge of the tools and equipment used to repair aircraft.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Detail oriented for accuracy.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to build rapport with students, faculty and staff.
- Ability to produce reports and complete work within deadlines.
- Strong initiative to solve problems.
- Ability to perform annual and 100-hour airworthiness inspections.
Supervision: 8 -12 Aviation Maintenance Mechanics.
