Bilingual High School Equivalency (HiSET®/GED®) Teacher
General Description
Bilingual High School Equivalency teachers will assist adults to acquire and develop literacy and numeracy skills; to acquire the necessary academic prerequisites to access further post-secondary education and skill training opportunities, or employment and workplace training opportunities; to increase educational levels for purposes of self-improvement; to learn and develop living and social skills; and/or to acquire and develop English language skills.
This appointment is contingent upon availability of grant or contract funds. If the funds from the grant or contract that provide funding for this appointment are no longer available, this appointment may be terminated without cause upon written notice to the employee.
Reports To:
High School Equivalency Coordinator
Minimum Education/Experience
Valid Oklahoma Teacher's Certificate OR Master's Degree.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Successful teaching strategies for adults.
- Have access to technology for e-mails, internet, etc. and respond to requests promptly.
- Be detail-oriented.
- Have a respectful and encouraging demeanor toward students.
- Fluent in Spanish: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior teaching experience.
Work Hours
Day, evening and/or weekend hours as required by course assignment.
