Biology Lecturer and Lab Coordinator

Texas Lutheran University has an opening for a Biology Lecturer and Lab Coordinator. This is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure track position starting August, 1, 2026, and is eligible for renewal.

This position is comprised of a 6-credit teaching component and a 6-credit lab coordinator component. Teaching assignments may involve lectures or labs. Specific duties are determined by the Department of Biology. Courses to be taught include but are not limited to Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Pathophysiology, and Genetics. The teaching portion of this position includes all aspects of teaching lectures and labs, including implementing lab activities, assessing student performance, and reporting grades for coursework.

The Lab Coordinator portion of the position includes responsibilities for the daily operations of Microbiology labs, and Anatomy and Physiology I and II labs. Time will also be dedicated to coordination of labs for Biological Systems I and II and Basic Biology. Duties include daily set up and cleanup of labs, maintaining and organizing lab inventories, ordering equipment and supplies for the labs, maintaining equipment, and maintaining some written safety requirements for the labs. The Lab Coordinator facilitates lab instruction and has supervisory responsibility over students working in the Biology labs.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Biology or Master’s in a related field with 18 credit hours of Biology
  • Degree, coursework, or research lab experience in biology, microbiology, physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or integrated science.
  • Minimum of 1 year research lab experience
  • Teaching experience
  • Ability to work collegially with other faculty in the department
  • Understanding and support of the mission of Texas Lutheran University
  • General familiarity and comfort using computers. Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Ability to learn new software such as course management software like Brightspace/Desire2Learn and Microsoft Teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience with microbiological or physiological research techniques.
