The Director is a key member of the Student Health and Wellness leadership team, championing the integration of clinical medical services with mental health and health promotion/wellness services to nurture holistic, “whole student” care. The Director supervises the Staff Physicians, the Director of Sports Medicine, the Physician Assistants, the Associate Clinical Director, and the Director of Pharmacy. The Director develops, implements, and evaluates clinical protocols, practice guidelines, and educational initiatives to support continuous quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and accreditation standards. Additionally, the Director is responsible for clinical oversight of the Student Health Pharmacy and provides direct supervision, guidance, and professional development support to the Director of Pharmacy.
As the key leader of Student Health Services, the Director collaborates with partners in the Division of Campus Life in support of student health, wellbeing, and academic success, participates in institutional committees, and actively contributes to the broader educational mission of the University. An M.D. or D.O. and licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in the state of Rhode Island with updated DEA certificate is required, as well as board certification in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or Med-Peds Residency. Experience in adolescent medicine and/or university health is strongly desired.
