BUSINESS OFFICER I
Acts as business and/or operations officer for a small to mid-size division, department or sub-division. Operating under minimal supervision, responsibilities may encompass financial, administrative, personnel, space and database management. Coordinates implementation of policies and procedures for the assigned areas of responsibility. Serves as financial/budget/grants management officer for assigned unit. Directs administrative operations of assigned unit and supervises support staff. May solicit funds and perform special projects as needed.
Provide comprehensive business, research, and administrative support for the Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology Manage post-award financial administration for sponsored research funds, including budget monitoring, expenditure review, effort reporting, salary distribution, cost sharing, and compliance Serve as a primary resource to faculty and staff on post-award financial management, audit readiness, and grant-funded personnel compliance Coordinate implementation of institutional, hospital, and sponsor/stakeholder policies and procedures related to sponsored projects and contracts Process financial and administrative transactions, including payment requests, contract processing, and P-card reconciliation Provide grant-related administrative support, including gathering and coordinating documentation for grant submissions and reporting requirements Support grant-funded human resources activities, including appointments, effort allocations, access requests, timekeeping for biweekly staff, and assistance with faculty, staff, and postdoctoral appointments Maintain division contact lists and listservs related to research personnel Serve as a liaison between research faculty and the HR Generalist for research-related personnel actions Perform special projects and support divisional initiatives as needed
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operations and Administration of Post-award Grant and Research Management.
- Manage post-award financial oversight for sponsored research funds, including budget monitoring, expenditure review, effort reporting, salary distribution, cost sharing, and compliance with sponsor, institutional, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a primary resource to faculty and staff on post-award financial management, audit readiness, and grant-funded personnel compliance.
- Coordinate implementation of university, hospital, and sponsor policies and procedures related to sponsored projects.
- Manage all VA IPAs and MOUs for the division.
- Gather and coordinate documentation for grant submissions, reporting, contracts, and MTA submissions
- Financial Administrative Operations Process payment requests, contract processing, and P-card reconciliation
- Perform data entry and coordinate day-to-day operational activities
- Support divisional financial transactions and administrative processes : Effort reporting &Research Personnel
- Provide HR support for grant-funded personnel, including coordination of appointments, effort allocations, and access requests
- Manage timekeeping for biweekly staff
- Maintain division contact lists and listservs
- Assist with faculty, staff, and postdoctoral appointments
- Serve as liaison between research faculty and HR Generalist for division personnel actions pertaining to research
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $52,555 - $85,400
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
