Job Description
This position is part of the University Shared Services financial team, which provides financial support to departments across multiple campuses and the UM System. The Finance Team consists of 12 full-time staff members, along with a team of student employees. The anticipated start date for this position is mid-May through early June.
This role assists in the direction and execution of the operational, personnel, reporting, fiscal and managerial activities of an assigned department or office.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist the manager with daily operations
- Performing a variety of assignments and analyses that impact Shared Services.
- Understanding the daily operations and apply this knowledge to support customers and team members
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving complex issues
- Create and present training for customers and team members
- Manage special projects
- Support cross-training efforts within the team
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Ability to learn new finance tools and be the subject matter expert
- Assist coordinate and prioritize the daily workload for team members
This position is responsible for the following financial processes:
- OneCard reconciliation
- Employees and student reimbursements
- Payment requests / Non-PO vouchers
- Requisitions / PO
- Contracts
- Journal Entry (JE) processing
- Cash Receipts Report (CRR) processing
- Supplier Entry
- Accounts, Receivable, Billing, Invoicing (ARBI)
- Student Charge and Educational Assistance
Shift
This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. Typically work hours are between 8am-5pm, however flexibility to work outside these hours as needed is expected.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Works within University and Finance Business policies and guidelines, while identifying and communicating process improvements and efficiencies to manager.
Demonstrates strong customer service and professional communication skills when interacting with customers and colleagues.
Able to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
Seeks organized, responsible, and ethical employees who can manage multiple tasks and competing priorities. A successful candidate takes pride in their work and consistently delivers outstanding customer service.
Demonstrated experience working with Microsoft applications.
Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students across the University.
Previous experience working with PeopleSoft or a similar enterprise financial system is preferred.
Ability to manage a high volume of transactions and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $57,000 – $61,000 per year
Grade: GGS 010
