About the program

Coursework during the first year in this Cancer Biology program at Stanford University is designed to provide a broad understanding of the molecular, genetic, cell biological, and pathobiological aspects of cancer. Students also learn about the current state of clinical diagnosis and treatment of human cancers.

Equally important during the first year is a series of three rotations in research laboratories chosen by each student. By the end of the first year, each student has chosen his/her research advisor and has begun work on his/her dissertation project.

Analysis Techniques for the Biosciences Using MATLAB

Stem Cells, Immunology and Regenerative Medicine

Principles of Cancer Systems Biology
Next Generation Sequencing and Applications

Academic requirements

Applicants must hold, or expect to hold before enrollment at Stanford, a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association, or an international equivalent.

A Master’s degree is only required if you do not meet the above eligibility requirements.
