ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Career Coach will provide personalized services to empower success and help students and alumni reach their goals.
Provide Group Coaching to Students and Alumni
- Develop new and edit existing engaging group presentations on core elements related to methods to leverage education and experience to achieve vocational goals
- Think critically and creatively, use knowledge, facts, and data to inform presentations and workshop materials
- Provide group presentations, workshops, and information sessions to students and alumni
- Develop and edit presentations/workshops to include innovative training/educational elements
- Assist Career Coach II staff or Career Coach III staff with club, classroom, or event presentation sessions to various schools and majors via in person or virtual sessions
- Organize, schedule, and facilitate a seamless presentation and workshop schedule
Provide Career Coaching Services
- Utilize professional experience to serve as the primary Career Coach for students pursuing careers in a specific industry.
- The Career Coach will also provide industry-specific information to students and alumni as directed by the Assistant Director to Career Coaching.
- Strategically coach students/alumni on methods for leveraging academic pursuits and experiences;
- Compile research and resources on related career fields to provide expert career information to students/alumni;
- Build collaborative working relationships with the dean, faculty, and staff;
- Critically and creatively use knowledge, facts, and data to effectively strategize multiple career options and plans;
- Evaluate students using coaching sessions and career assessments to assist students in understanding strengths, values, interests, and characteristics in order to develop academic and career options;
- Train students on employability skills and networking techniques;
- Guide students to create tailored and effective resumes and cover letters for internship, job, and grad school/PhD applications; and
- Conduct professional and creative mock interviews to prepare students/alumni to successfully interview for positions.
