Career Management Specialist

Position Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Career Management Specialist for the School of Management and Labor Relations.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

• Provides supplemental corporation/union/government/public service specific counseling.
• Coordinates campus visits and information sessions by such organizations.
• Collects, organizes, and maintains data in Handshake.
• Advises individual students on specific areas of job/internship search focused in the areas related to Human Resource Management and Labor Studies and Employment Relations.
• Supports undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni from the School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR) programs.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Masters degree in Counseling or a field related to Human Resource Management or Labor Studies and Employment Relations.

• Personal computer with Microsoft Office; Photoshop, and a variety of university databases related to student services.
• Knowledge of Career Management platforms including Handshake.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Occasional night programs may run until 9 pm.

Special Conditions

• The position will be located at the Janice Levin Building on Livingston Campus, but may require periodic visits to the Labor Education Center on the Cook/Douglass campus.
• This is a part-time position, 0.8 FTE (30 hours per week).
• Work hours are to be scheduled within during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, with hours extended to 9 pm for special events, scheduled by mutual agreement.
• Hours are subject to change.
• This is a 10 month position.
