Description:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Physical Plant, the Carpenter performs journey-level work related to the construction, repair, restoration, and installation of building structures and fixtures, furniture, shelving, cabinetry, drywall, and rough and finish work.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performs demolition and construction work including but not limited to metal and wood framing, spline ceilings, suspended ceilings, ceramic and porcelain wall and floor tile, cabinet installation, furniture assembly and flat/shingle roofing.
- Repairs and installs gutter/down spout, metal and wood doors, sheetrock/plaster, vinyl and shingle siding, window treatment, solid surface, plastic laminate, wood veneers, glass windows, mirrors and LVT/VCT flooring.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A valid NYS driver's license required.
- Minimum 5 years trade experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve issues related to the trade.
- Ability to climb ladders and work on various mechanical lifts.
- Ability to sit, stand, squat, kneel, climb, crawl and lift items in excess of 50 lbs.
- Work well with others in area as well as with other trades.
- Respond to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Perform all job duties in adherence with University and departmental safety guidelines.
- Maintain a positive attitude and communicates effectively with colleagues, supervisors, staff, faculty and students.
- Must be available for overtime and emergencies as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Snow plowing experience preferred.
