The dean of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, invites applications for job vacancy with a deadline for applications November 01, 2026
Job description
- original research and the publication of its results in leading peer-reviewed journals and scientific monographs;
- submission of a GAČR or TAČR project proposal within the first year of employment and subsequent preparation for the submission of an ERC project proposal;
- active participation in establishing and maintaining international and intra-university cooperation;
- close collaboration with CenMAS;
- teaching compulsory and compulsory-elective courses in the bachelor’s program in Political Science and the master’s program in Political Theory (or in other study programs accredited at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University); regular preparation of courses taught in English;
- preparation and teaching of U3A and lifelong learning courses;
- supervising and examining Bc., NMgr., and Ph.D. theses and projects;
- participation in the administrative and organizational activities of the Department of Political Science;
- participation in committees for bachelor’s and state final exams; organization of admission exams
Along with the other required documents, the applicant must submit a proposed syllabus for the intended compulsory-elective course taught in English in the field of global studies (Supplement No. 1) and a project summary (two standard pages in length) intended for submission to a national or international grant agency (Supplement No. 2).

Qualifications
- Ph.D. in political science or a closely related field.
- Habilitation is not a requirement, but it may be an advantage.
- Specialization in global studies and problems of democracy.
- Broad methodological skills.
- Excellent publication record in the field of political science (bibliometrics and citation impact will be used as criteria for evaluating candidates).
- Ability to teach primarily in English.
- Experience with research projects is as advantage.
- Study or research experience abroad are an advantage.
- Knowledge of the Czech language is an advantage.
