The Role We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, skilled Chef to join our team in the University's In-House fast paced catering department EAT@NEWCASTLE with the flexibility to move between units on our Newcastle campus. This role is full time all year round. We are looking for people who can bring a broad experience of working with food preparation and cooking and it is important that you hold a level 2 Food safety for caterer's certificate. We are particularly keen to hear from people who have demonstrable experience in a range of cooking techniques whilst always complying with Food Hygiene regulations. Working with other chefs, we encourage you to generate new ideas in relation to menus to constantly meet the changing needs of our diverse customers. As part of your role, you will support our Commis Chefs and provide steer and direction. • Up-to-date knowledge of legislation in relation to Food Hygiene, HACCP and Health and Safety and demonstrable allergen awareness
• Experience in a large scale catering operation
• Awareness of current trends and issues within the catering industry
• Experience of managing people

• Ability to keep calm in pressurised situations
• A positive attitude
• Ability to work unsupervised and prioritise workload
