Northwell Health is seeking a full-time Chief of Colorectal Surgery at Peconic Bay Medical Center. Previous leadership experience is preferred.
This is an exceptional opportunity to establish and lead a Colorectal Surgery program serving Long Island's North Fork community. The qualified candidate will oversee a collaborative environment with experienced surgical colleagues and advanced practice providers.
Position Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Provide leadership and oversight for the development and clinical direction of the Colorectal Surgery program
- Maintain an active clinical practice, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted techniques
- Build referral relationships with primary care and gastroenterology colleagues across the North Fork region
- Lead initiatives focused on quality, patient safety, operational excellence, and program development
- Advance departmental growth through strategic planning, recruitment, and service line expansion
- Partner with hospital and system leadership on administrative, financial, and operational priorities
- Promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, diversity, and physician engagement
Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Board Certification in General Surgery required
- Extensive experience and specialization in colorectal surgery
- Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of New York
- Demonstrated leadership experience within an academic or clinically integrated health system environment
- A proven track record of clinical excellence, physician engagement, and program growth
- Experience with laparoscopic and/or robotic colorectal surgery preferred
