About the Team:
The Chief Student Officer and Registrar is part of the Enterprise and Digital Portfolio, reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Enterprise and Digital.
The team oversees a wide span of student lifecycle services across higher education, vocational education, and international cohorts. This includes admissions, enrolments, progress and completions, student finance, timetabling, data governance and government reporting, business systems support, and all core administration functions that enable an exceptional student experience.
About the Role:
This senior leadership role is responsible for driving the strategic direction, innovation, and operational excellence of student administration across Victoria University.
You will lead the design and delivery of a seamless, customer‑focused student journey, grounded in digital transformation, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement. As a key advisor to senior leadership and a highly visible leader across the institution, you will influence policy, strategy, technology-enabled service delivery, and cross‑university collaboration to ensure a consistent and outstanding student experience.
Position Key Duties
Provide strategic leadership across all student administration functions including admissions, enrolments, progress, completions, examinations, graduations, and student finance.
Oversee and optimise student management systems to ensure efficient, integrated, technology‑enhanced service delivery.
Lead the development of policies, protocols, and procedures to strengthen quality, compliance, and consistency across the student lifecycle.
Build strong internal and external partnerships, including compliance bodies, government agencies, and sector partners.
Lead and develop a high‑performing leadership team across student administration business units.
Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on student data, government reporting, compliance, and operational opportunities.
Manage departmental budgets, resources, and planning to ensure high‑quality and efficient service delivery.
Oversee risk management, safety, and compliance requirements in line with legislative frameworks and VU policy.
Drive continuous improvement and innovation through technology, data insights, and lean process redesign.
Represent VU in internal and external forums, promoting excellence in student administrative practice.
Salary: Senior Staff Contract
Employment Type: Full Time – Fixed Term 5 years
Hours: 36.75/1 FTE
Location: Footscray Park Campus – With travel required to our other campuses.

About You:
The ideal candidate will bring:
Extensive senior leadership experience in student administration within a complex tertiary education environment.
Proven capability in leading large multi‑disciplinary teams through transformation and change.
Strong understanding of higher education and vocational education compliance frameworks, legislation, and regulatory obligations.
Exceptional communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
High‑level strategic thinking, analytical capability, and financial acumen.
A deep commitment to delivering high‑quality student experience outcomes and service excellence.
The University is a Child Safe organisation. You will be required to hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or be willing to obtain one prior to commencing employment.
