Responsibilities
- This position involves hands-on care and education of young children, including directly supervising, guiding, and teaching infants, toddlers, and preschoolers—ranging in age from 6 weeks to 5 years old—within the FSU Childcare and Early Learning Program facility. Daily responsibilities include engaging with children in age-appropriate activities, ensuring their safety and well-being, and fostering a nurturing and developmentally supportive environment.
- Manages one classroom of assigned ages within the pod to accomplish the strategic goals for learning through educational play under the support and guidance of Faculty Pod Leader.
- Communicates regularly with families regarding child progress and development, daily activities, program information and events, and assists Faculty Pod Leader with Family conferences, as needed.
- Attends, participates, and assists in managing open houses for families, center tours for prospective families, and team meetings.
- Participates in trainings, workshops, conferences, seminars, and completes required DCF training and professional development CEUs.
Under the direction of the Faculty Pod Leader, position will assist with:
- The supervision of and the implementation of educational activities for children in both large and small group settings.
- Conducting developmental assessments; maintaining up to date records and evaluations related to the participation, performance and accomplishments of children enrolled in the program; DCF file requirements; and accreditation portfolios.
- Meeting the needs of children with exceptions and specialties.
- Supporting and training student staff, practicum students, interns, and volunteers.
- Communicating and holding regular meetings with team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Services, or related field with a focus on early education.
- Knowledge and understanding of lesson plan design, curriculum implementation, classroom management strategies, and developmentally appropriate practice with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old
- Experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising and providing care for children in a childcare facility setting.
- At least one year of experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old in a classroom setting.
- Must have completed state mandated 40 clock hours of DCF training or be able to complete within 6 months of hire date.
- Must have First Aid and CPR certification or be able to complete training and receive certification within 3 months of hire date.

This is a Faculty position.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, including a fingerprint-based screening via AHCA’s Clearinghouse pursuant to Section 1012, Florida Statutes, for positions in a FSU Developmental Research School or Section 409.175, Florida Statutes, for positions in a Childcare or Summer Camp position. Must be able to work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM- 5:30 PM, including some evening and weekend hours for program sponsored events and activities.
