Based in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, the Chair will lead strategic initiatives in mine automation, robotics, autonomous systems, advanced sensing and intelligent mining technologies while strengthening WASM's position as a global centre for mining innovation.

The successful candidate will develop and lead high-impact research programs, secure major competitive funding, and build strategic partnerships with industry, government and research organisations. A key focus will be translating cutting-edge research into operational mining environments through field validation, technology demonstration and commercial application.

The Chair will also provide leadership in teaching and curriculum development, mentoring researchers and Higher Degree by Research candidates, and fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and innovation.

We are seeking candidates with:

A PhD in mining engineering, robotics, mechatronics, engineering, computer science or a related discipline. An international research reputation in mine automation, robotics, autonomous systems or related fields. A distinguished record of research excellence, competitive funding success and industry partnership development. Demonstrated success translating research into industry impact through technology deployment, field trials or commercialisation. Proven academic leadership and the ability to build and lead multidisciplinary teams.
