Routes may occasionally cross state lines based on operational needs. This position requires the safe and timely transportation of materials, accurate documentation, dependable communication, and strict compliance with all DOT and company safety requirements.The ideal candidate has tractor-trailer experience, is comfortable operating manual and automatic transmissions, and can work independently in outdoor and industrial environments.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A tractor-trailers with 30- to 45-foot open-top end-dump trailers.Complete assigned local routes efficiently while providing professional customer service.Occasionally travel across state lines as required.Operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.Follow all DOT regulations and applicable federal, state, and local laws.Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.Maintain accurate electronic driver logs using the company’s electronic logging system.Complete and submit service tickets, contamination reports, maintenance records, and other required documentation.Maintain the cleanliness and basic operating condition of assigned equipment.Use basic hand tools to perform minor repairs on company bins and equipment.Communicate regularly with dispatch, customers, vendors, and the operations team.Report accidents, injuries, equipment problems, and safety concerns immediately.Attend required safety calls, meetings, training sessions, and briefings.Use a smartphone or computer for communication, training, documentation, and expense reporting.Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Valid Class A CDL self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate driver.Current DOT medical card.Clean Motor Vehicle Record and acceptable PSP report.
- Must meet one of the following experience requirements:
- At least 23 years old with two years of full-time, verifiable tractor-trailer experience; or
At least 21 years old with one year of tractor-trailer experience and graduation from an accredited truck-driving school or one year of qualifying military experience.
- Previous end-dump or open-top trailer experience.Familiarity with electronic logging systems such as PeopleNet.Knowledge of hydraulic equipment.Experience making local or regional deliveries.Strong customer service and route-management experience.Basic mechanical knowledge and experience using hand tools.
- Regularly lift, pull, push, or carry up to 70 pounds.Frequently bend, stoop, twist, shovel, climb, and reach overhead.Work outdoors in changing weather conditions.Work around farms, food-waste materials, and potentially unpleasant odors.Safely enter and exit commercial vehicles and inspect trailers and equipment.Remain alert and focused throughout extended driving and working periods.
