Position Summary
The Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences (CDS), University at Buffalo, The State University of New York invites applications to apply for a full-time, 12-month, term position in Clinical Audiology. Appointment will be made at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor depending on candidate profile. Areas of Audiologists specialty training are flexible, but we have particular interest in individuals with experience in hearing aid dispensing and working with vestibular disorders.
The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide graduate student clinical education for CDSs Clinical Doctor of Audiology program (AuD). Faculty are expected to take part in all facets of AuD training including direct clinical supervision in the UB Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Clinic and in the Western New York Community. Faculty will have opportunities to develop specialty clinics and will be expected to teach graduate level coursework within their areas of expertise. Additionally, faculty will be responsible for providing service to the department, the university, and to the community.
UB is a member of the AAU. With support from the College of Arts and Sciences, the department is committed to building existing research, clinical, and academic capacities to continue to provide leadership in the fields of speech-language pathology, hearing science, and related disorders.
Essential duties of the position include:
- Provide clinical audiology services in our UB Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Clinic and in the community.
- Educate and train graduate audiology students in our clinic, during hands on labs, and out in the community.
- Participate on committees for graduate student research projects.
- Manage administration related to clinical training and clinical operations.
- Develop interprofessional and collaborative clinical relationships within and outside the university community.
- Teach 1-2 academic courses across the calendar year.
Minimum Qualifications
- Clinical Doctorate Degree in Audiology (AuD) with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience and a minimum of 1 year of clinical supervision experience.
- Candidates are required to have or be eligible for ASHA certification, CCC-A.
- Have or be eligible for NY State Licensure.
- Have or be eligible for a NY State Hearing Aid Dispensing License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience in speech and hearing science at the university level preferred.
- Preferred candidates have experience with hearing aid dispensing and vestibular disorders.
- Preferred candidates are engaging, motivated, self-initiators, and highly organized.
Physical Demands
Candidates must be able to work as an Audiologist in a clinical environment, manage working with students and clients, potentially travel to sites in the WNY community, and teach academic course work.
