Position Summary
The Department of Educational Studies within the College of Education at Purdue University invites applications for a 9-month, non-tenure position, Clinical Assistant Professor in its APA-accredited counseling psychology doctoral program. We are seeking applicants who can contribute to our college’s vision of discovering and developing human potential through impactful research, teaching, and engagement.
Purdue University is classified as a “very high research activity” institution and has received the 2026 Carnegie Community Engagement classification from the American Council of Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
Responsibilities
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses and supervise clinical practica within the counseling psychology program
- Maintain a 3:3 teaching load (3 courses in Fall semester, 3 courses in Spring semester)
- Engage in mentoring activities with students in the doctoral program
- Serve on program, department, and college committees
- Participate in College of Education activities, including:
- Collaborations with faculty
- Attendance at speaker series
- Contribution to program and departmental meetings and activities
Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Hold an earned doctorate from an APA-accredited program in counseling psychology or a related field by the position start date
- Demonstrate evidence of effective teaching ability
- Be licensed or license-eligible in the State of Indiana
Preferred:
- Willingness to assume future leadership roles in the program
Clinical faculty at Purdue University are full members of the university faculty with multi-year contracts, promotion capabilities, and access to university resources and programming.
Salary
Salary and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Start Date
August 17, 2026
