Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
At the University of Canterbury (UC), we are shaping future Psychology Assistants through innovative, practice-based education that connects theory, clinical excellence, and community engagement. We are seeking a Clinical Educator to play a key role in delivering high-quality professional training within our growing postgraduate programmes.
In this diverse and rewarding role, you will:
- Deliver engaging teaching within the postgraduate Psychology Assistant programme
- Providing coaching and applied skills development
- Contributing to competency-based assessment and feedback processes
- Supporting the integration of culturally responsive and Te Tiriti-informed practice throughout the programme
- Support students through simulation-based learning, clinical demonstrations, and community placements
- Mentor and guide students in developing ethical, reflective, and culturally responsive practice
- Build strong partnerships with community organisations and placement providers
- Contribute to programme development, innovation, and continuous quality improvement
- Collaborate closely with academic, clinical, and professional staff across the School
- Contributing to clinical service delivery through the UC Psychology Centre and supporting practice-based learning through demonstration and observation opportunities.

Mōu | Who You Are
You will hold a Postgraduate Diploma or Doctorate from a NZPB-accredited psychology professional training programme (or equivalent) and a current registration as a Psychologist in New Zealand with eligibility to practise and also have:
- At least three years’ post-registration clinical experience in providing psychology assessment and intervention for mental health and addiction problems
- Experience delivering psychological assessment and intervention across diverse client groups
- Experience of working effectively within collaborative and interdisciplinary environments
- Demonstrated ethical, reflective, and culturally responsive practice
- Strong skills in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Experience in teaching, training, or supervising students or early-career practitioners
- A collaborative and supportive approach to professional learning
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Hold a current driver’s licence with no endorsements
- A demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
- An alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
Experience in Motivational Interviewing, online or simulation-based education, professional psychology training, community partnership development or te reo Māori me ōna tikanga will be highly regarded.
