DESCRIPTION:
Coordinates the activities of specified laboratory skills and/or clinical rotations in support of the instructional program. Responsible for leading assigned students through laboratory and simulation exercises which involve considerable risk to the coordinator and students involved. Examples include leading students through simulated emergencies, directing the performance of medical care, and other similar responsibilities. Clinical instructors are responsible for student learning objectives, conducted in hospitals and/or other medical facilities, working with patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervises student procedures, monitors student progress, and reviews lab assignments for correctness and completion.
2. Administers theory and lab tests, establishes criteria and assigns lab grades.
3. Plans develops organizes, and coordinates activities to support the implementation of specified instructional programs and labs.
4. May assist in the development of lab syllabi and the selection and development of lab exercises.
5. Provides instruction and/or demonstration to orient students to the use and care of equipment and supplies necessary to perform real world emergency procedures.
6. Complies with all regulatory requirements for completion of certification by designated state agencies, following established safe lab practices.
7. Responsible for ensuring student and instructor safety by complying with assigned instructions and regulations as defined by state certifying agencies.
8. Maintains inventory and appropriate storage of supplies and equipment, reorders supplies when necessary.
9. Performs other site and position specific responsibilities as assigned.
10. Clinical Coordinators and Assistant lab instructors are responsible for smaller groups of students with “Hands On” learning scenarios, as assigned by the Lab lead Instructor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associates degree in related field
2. State certified in the relevant program
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
3. Bachelor’s degree in a related field desired.
4. Previous teaching experience desired.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS:
1. Knowledge of the disciplines assigned.
2. Knowledge of the rules, regulations and procedures of the area of assignment
3. Demonstrated knowledge in the effective use of classroom technology.
4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
5. Ability to deal effectively with students, faculty and supervisors.
6. Ability to teach effectively.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:
1. Acceptable eyesight and hearing (with or without correction/aid)
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
1. Works inside a classroom/laboratory environment
2. May work in simulation labs including burn buildings, driving tracks, and other similar locations.
3. May supervise student progress in hospitals, health related facilities and EMS transports.

Clinical Lab Assistants are paid according to Seminole State College’s Non-Bargaining Unit Salary Schedule :
- $31.07 Hourly up to 26 hours per week
Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more. The Office of Human Resources will determine which background checks shall be conducted for each position, based upon its review of job descriptions and the responsibilities of the position. These include, but are not limited to, positions that have access to money, master keys, security-sensitive areas and confidential information; positions that have the capability to create, delete, and alter records; and positions that are responsible for the care and instruction of children.
