We are seeking to recruit a motivated clinician with an interest in academic general practice to undertake a Scottish Clinical Research Excellence Development Scheme (SCREDS) Lecturer (GP) Post within the Department of General Practice. This post offers a unique opportunity to combine clinical training with academic development in either primary care research or medical education scholarship.
The successful candidate will undertake a two-year split ST3, combining 50% clinical training in an approved practice (East of Scotland) and 50% academic training within the University. The post is designed to support the development of clinical, research and educational competencies, enabling progression towards a higher degree and a future clinical academic career.
Based at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, the post sits within a vibrant academic primary care environment with strong links to research, teaching, and public health.
The primary aims of this post are to:
- Undertake clinical training in General Practice, achieving competencies required for CCST
- Develop and deliver components of research or medical education scholarship, leading to publishable outputs
- Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the School of Medicine
- Engage with the General Practice academic community and contribute to collaborative activities
- Undertake administrative and governance duties aligned to teaching and research commitments.
We are looking for an active clinician with a strong interest in academic general practice who demonstrates:
- Enthusiasm for research and/or medical education
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Motivation to develop as a future clinical academic
- Capacity for innovation, initiative and high-quality scholarly work
