Clinical Nurse Supervisor, Milford Ortho
Overview
Working under the direction of the Senior Nurse Manager, supporting the Yale Medicine Milford Orthopedics; Rehabilitation practice, manage the day to day operations, provides direct support to physicians as needed, supervise clinic staff, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance evaluations and corrective action plans. As needed, may provide support for casting, administration of injections and minor procedures. Assures all procedures for maintaining patient confidentiality are maintained per HIPAA guidelines. Identifies education needed to assure delivery of patient care for oneself and others in the department. Assists with other clinic functions as required.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proven experience in clinical operations
- Excellent attendance, punctuality and reliability.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to prioritize and organize in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
- BS in Nursing with one year of experience in an ambulatory care setting.
- Orthopedic clinic experience.
- Previous experience in managing staff.
Principal Responsibilities
- Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of patient care and nursing services in multi-specialty physician practice.
- Assign responsibilities and duties as related to appropriate licensure and experience of staff member.
- Evaluate staff performance based on professional practice standards and development.
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement corrective actions in order to promote a productive and healthy work environment.
- Interview, hire, and train clinical staff.
- Ensure all clinical staff maintains required training skills.
- Responsible for operating within approved budget.
- Obtain and assess vital signs, patient history, medications and other pertinent demographic information and log all data into records according to practice policy and standards.
- Evaluate and present patient history and diagnosis to physician using concise and accurate verbal communication.
- Assure all procedures for maintaining patient confidentiality are maintained per HIPAA guidelines.
- Provide patient education about various health care topics and medications.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors’ degree and three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required License(s) or Certification(s)
Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
