Clinical Research Coordinator - Van Allen Lab
The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks a Clinical Research Coordinator, under the Van Allen Lab to work on data collection and management for projects that focus on tissue profiling. The Clinical Research Coordinator will be responsible for tracking tissue samples and data generation, organizing clinical information, and maintaining an appropriate database for multiple large-scale projects.
As Dr. Van Allen is the Chief of the Division of Population Sciences, our research effort includes collaborative work with the division faculty members on identification of cancer risk, risk mitigation, early detection, prevention, delivery of cancer care and health policy. The Van Allen lab is an interdisciplinary and highly collaborative laboratory with diverse scientists from various scientific domains leading exciting cancer research. The Clinical Research Coordinator will also work with Dr. Jeremiah Wala, a medical oncologist in the Lank Center for Genitourinary Oncology. Dr. Wala’s research focuses on understanding how the tumor genome shapes the tumor-immune response, principally through sequencing and tissue imaging approaches.

The qualified candidate will focus on establishing and maintaining a database of information related to tissue samples needed for tissue profiling, which includes but is not limited to multiplex immunofluorescence, 10x Xenium, and other spatial profilings. The candidate will also organize a master file of clinical information related to a large-scale H&E digitization project.
Related projects and responsibilities will include:
- Managing clinical information within RedCap.
- Creation and oversight of a database of tissue samples, to include where samples have come from, what data has been generated, and where data is stored.
- Coordination with Clinical Research Coordinators and other Labs regarding the collection of new tissue samples.
- Working with Core Facilities or other Labs to get quotes for sequencing and execute [Department / PI’s] plan for additional data generation.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 0-1 years of experience working in a medical or scientific research setting or comparable technology orientated business environment preferred.
- Basic experience with cloud storage is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to perform both self-directed and guided project management are required.
- Ability to meet deadlines and efficiently multitask is a must.
- Must demonstrate outstanding personal initiative and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to effectively collaborate across a range of individuals (physicians, computational biologists, bench scientists) with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to seek out mentorship and assistance as needed, while also being a mentor to other members of the community.
