Clinical Research Fellow NIHR SMILE Bioresource

The Department of Psychiatry is based on the Warneford Hospital site in Oxford – a friendly, welcoming place of work with an international reputation for excellence. The Department has a substantial research programme, with major funding from Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome Trust and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides highly rated medical training in psychiatry. The Head of Department is Professor Belinda Lennox.

We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Researcher to support the delivery of the Severe Mental Illness Longitudinal Evaluation (SMILE) Bioresource, and to recruit to and support other TRC and Oxford Health based industry studies.

About the Role

The post is funded for 12 months (with the possibility of an extension) and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital. We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Researcher to support the delivery of the SMILE Bioresource, and to recruit to and support other TRC and Oxford Health based industry studies. The post-holder will report to Professor Rachel Upthegrove, Director of the NIHR Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre, and will work with the cohort manager to set up the cohort at partner sites and identify new sites to take part in the collaboration. They will also work with the complementary Early Intervention Mission cohort (part of the MH-TRC Mission Early Psychosis workstream), to identify synergies and opportunities for collaboration.

About You

You will have a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and GMC registration with a Licence to Practice. A strong interest in mental health disorders along with an understanding and experience of research methods and processes is essential. You will have the ability to communicate complex information with clarity, both verbally and in writing. Experience of Psychiatry and of research methods and processes related to the study of mental illness would be desirable.
