Your next career opportunity

The Equine Veterinarian will have a veterinary degree registrable in Victoria and will share responsibility for the day-to-day assessment and management of primary accession in-patient and out-patient horses at the Equine Centre, as well as provision of equine ambulatory clinical services. The position includes evaluation of emergency admissions and management of hospitalised horses outside of regular working hours (including weekends). The incumbent will work with other equine team members to ensure high quality patient care and client services, and to grow clinical caseload in support of undergraduate veterinary education. The position would suit applicants with at least two years graduated experience in mixed or equine practice, but new or recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

What you will deliver:

  • Provide clinical assessment, treatment and ongoing care for primary accession equine in-patients and out-patients at the Equine Centre.
  • Contribute to veterinary care of horses referred to the Equine Centre in consultation with supervising specialist veterinarians.
  • Support ambulatory services by attending horses off site, including emergency and after-hours cases as rostered.
  • Supervise, teach and assess veterinary students on clinical rotation, modelling professional behaviour and effective client communication.
  • Maintain accurate clinical and regulatory records, ensuring timely communication, correct billing and compliance with University policies.
  • Contribute to Equine Centre objectives, team initiatives and promotional activities that enhance caseload, education and community engagement.
