Clinical/Field Experience Staff, Surgical Technology
Position Summary
This position supports student achievement and implementation of the core curriculum for the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP) accredited program at the College. The clinical faculty member has the responsibility and accountability for evaluating the student in the clinical or laboratory setting and monitoring performance goals. Professional communication and accountability in all modalities are cornerstones of this role.

The following are the functions essential to performing this job:

- Participate in review of the curriculum.

- Participate in professional development activities annually in surgical technology and education topics.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program with a minimum of a certificate of accomplishment in surgical technology
- Current credential as a Certified Surgical Technologist, CST
- Two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years
- Ability to push, lift, and pull a minimum of 20 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR Certification
- Proof of immunizations and titers for MMR, varicella, TB, Hepatitis B, Tetanus, and annual Flu vaccine, or valid documentation of alternatives
- Clear background check, drug screen, and fingerprinting
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in surgical technology or higher degree in a technical field
- Teaching experience in surgical technology education
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Work Schedule
Varied hours between 6:45 AM to 3:00 PM; Monday to Friday. May need to flex to evenings or weekends according to course schedules.
