New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Community-Based Global Learning Coordinator, reporting to the Assistant Director, Academic Program, Global Education.
The Community-based Global Learning (CBGL) Coordinator is responsible for supporting community-based global learning engagements and programs in the UAE and abroad during regular semesters, and J-terms. The CBGL Coordinator will work with over 70 faculty members during an academic year. The Coordinator is also responsible for the development of Visiting Group Programs from NYU schools and colleges in NY and Shanghai, or external institutions, for over 250 faculty and student participants doing the equivalent of Regional Academic Seminars in the UAE. The Coordinator manages end-to-end logistics, supports service agreements with external entities (travel agencies, universities and schools, cultural organizations, businesses, and government entities, procures visas, oversees flight arrangements, tracks budgets, facilitates payments of invoices and honoraria, supports the onboarding of local education officers, and contributes to evaluations and planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support over 70 faculty per academic year in designing, organizing, and implementing community-based global learning activities in the UAE and abroad. This typically includes logistics faculty-led, course-related engagements in the community, including preparations for speakers, visit and activities both on and off-campus in the UAE and abroad, and research of appropriate activities per course syllabi and faculty requirements
- Reporting, budgeting, and documentation
- Support with the student assistantship position within the team, including the Local Education Office(LEOs): SA applications and onboarding, task assignment as delegated by CBL colleagues and follow-up on progress, LEO selection, training, faculty introduction, and data collection
- Participate and lead information sessions, pre-departure orientation sessions and supervise in field visits as needed
- Any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree in any field, with further evidence of continuing education beyond the BA
Required Experience
- 1+ years of related experience in a cross-cultural setting based in the UAE
- Work experience in a university setting or similar
- Experience working with the Emirati and Arabic-speaking community
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Planning /implementing special events and activities
- Excellent community network of contacts and/or proven ability to develop such a network
- Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic (both verbal and written) and the ability to work with people at all levels
- Working well both independently and in a group
- Attention to detail, being well-organized and able to multi-task
- Good working knowledge of Google Suite Apps, Microsoft and other database applications
- Strong time management skills
