The Senior Programmer Analyst plays a vital role in supporting the college by providing programming and analytical services, modifying existing applications, integrating third-party solutions, and building API-based integrations and portal components on the college's Ellucian Experience platform. This position contributes to a collaborative team environment with the shared goal of delivering innovative solutions to enhance customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, code, test, debug, and document software applications using programming languages and integration tools, leveraging relevant experience, and knowledge of industry best practices, regulations, and requirements.
- Act as a team resource to collaborate with business users, technical resources, and other stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for new software applications and enhancements to existing systems
- Participate in peer code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and system testing to produce high-quality software solutions
- Engage in daily operations such as creating and evaluating robust test plans, and providing training to end-users. Write code to support the needs of our stakeholders, in a DevOps environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, performance problems, and software defects
- Ensure timely resolution of support tickets within Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and engage with vendor support as needed to resolve escalated issues
- Support a variety of campus applications as assigned
- Represent the college and the Information Technology team professionally in all interactions
- Other duties may be assigned as needed
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in an applicable field with four years of programming experience
- Proficiency in programming languages, i.e. SQL, PL/SQL
- Knowledge of shell scripting and/or other programming languages (i.e., Java, JavaScript, Shell, Perl, Python, HTML)
- Experience with source control platforms such as Github
- Proficiency in Ellucian Experience or similar Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) solutions
- Experience building API-based integrations (e.g., Ellucian Ethos Integration) and/or developing UI components ("cards") for a vendor experience/portal platform
- Familiarity with relational database table structures
- Analytical skills to collect data, define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Understanding of analysis, troubleshooting, problem-solving, client relations, requirement assessment, project management methodology, and their interrelationships
- Excellent written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet critical deadlines
- Ability to work effectively with managers, peers, and customers
- Capacity to multitask and collaborate within a team environment
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an applicable field with two year of programming
- Experience with SaaS solutions, particularly in the education sector
- Familiarity with Ellucian Banner ERP or similar enterprise resource planning systems
- Experience in applications management and administration, including user permissions, troubleshooting, and vendor support
- Experience in the education sector
