Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated salary hiring range is $3,461 - $3,601 per month (Steps 1 – 3), commensurate with qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this classification is $3,461 - $5,043 per month.
- This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.
- Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Eligible employees are also able to participate in the fee waiver education program.
Job Summary
Community Service Specialists are uniformed, non-sworn employees who provide a variety of public relations, technical, clerical, security and enforcement-related functions. Under the general supervision of the Parking & Transportation Manager and/or a Lieutenant, and under the lead of a Community Service Specialist II, the incumbent will support the mission of the University, the Fresno State Police Department and the Traffic Operations division.
Typical work assignments may fall within one or more of the following areas: Security Services, Parking Support, Campus Community Support.
Key Qualifications
- Working knowledge of applicable university policies and procedures, methods, practices, and terminology used in public safety communications and ability to learn to use applicable public safety related equipment and systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts on a rotational basis; detect and respond appropriately to potential hazardous or crime situations; and more (see full list in posting).
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three to six months of directly related work experience.
- Possession of a valid class “C” California Driver’s License and a demonstrated good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience performing parking and/or traffic control like functions.
- Knowledge of computer office systems and ability to use a broad range of technology.
- Proficient in use of two-way radio communication.
