Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Faculty member in Computing Sciences who will be a part of the Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth Plus Community College (PRODiG+CC) program. We seek a student-centered educator with academic preparation and/or professional experience that allows them to teach across multiple subfields within computing sciences, including artificial intelligence.
The PRODiG+CC program is an initiative supported by SUNY system aiming to: (1) Increase the number and share of excellent diverse community college faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion; (2) strengthen the pipeline for retention and support of these candidates; and (3) hire qualified faculty directly into tenure-track positions to support the community colleges’ efforts to build an educated workforce in the state.
The ideal candidate has experience working with artificial intelligence and has the ability to teach in additional areas such as programming (e.g., Java, Python), cloud computing, cybersecurity, networking, software or game development, or related computing disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching
- Develop and deliver high-quality instruction in artificial intelligence and additional computing science subfields aligned with the candidate’s expertise and departmental needs.
- Teach across multiple areas within computing sciences to support program flexibility, enrollment growth, and evolving industry demand.
- Deliver instruction in multiple modalities, including in-person, online asynchronous, and HyFlex formats.
Advising, Service & Professional Development
- Advise and mentor students, supporting their academic progression and career aspirations.
- Serve on college committees and engage in shared governance.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship;
- Have a Master’s degree or relevant terminal degree from an accredited institution completed prior to start date;
- Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community.
- Experience leveraging artificial intelligence.
- Ability to teach in multiple subfields within computing sciences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior college-level teaching experience in computing sciences.
- Industry experience in one or more computing subfields.
- Experience teaching in multiple instructional modalities.
