About the Project

Transform tomorrow’s connected world through engineering, data, and digital technologies. We are working to create sustainable, inclusive, and healthy communities through the effective networking of intelligent connected objects and infrastructure.

Wolfson School is recognised internationally for its leadership in intelligent systems, digital engineering, and high-impact research that shapes future infrastructure. Our School hosts world-class researchers in communications, sensing, electronics, and autonomous systems, supported by cutting-edge engineering laboratories and high-performance computing capabilities.

As cities, transport systems, energy networks and built environments become increasingly data-driven and interconnected, the need for secure, resilient and human-centred engineering solutions has never been greater. Your doctoral research will contribute to the design of intelligent, connected, and trustworthy infrastructure that supports sustainable growth and enhances quality of life.

Example research areas:

  • IoT-enabled infrastructure and smart mobility
  • Sensor fusion, digital twins, and real-time monitoring
  • Autonomous and connected systems for transport and logistics
  • Secure and resilient architectures for intelligent environments
  • AI-enabled urban analytics and decision support
