Construction Technician

Auburn University’s Facilities Management is seeking a Construction Tech to join our Facilities Maintenance Zone 2, where your skills in construction, repair, and maintenance will help shape and maintain the physical environment of our campus. As a Construction Tech, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the construction, repair, and maintenance of Auburn University’s buildings, streets, and property. Your work will directly contribute to creating a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities
- Assists in a variety of carpentry related tasks relating to the installation, repair, and maintenance of ceilings, flooring, walls, windows, doors, door jams, and siding.
- Prepares and paints all manner of interior and exterior surfaces including, but not limited to sheetrock, wood, brick, concrete, handrails, posts and chains and other surfaces.
- Performs minor demolition work as needed for renovations and/or construction projects.
- Operates motorized equipment including forklifts, truck/trailer combinations, and man lifts.
- Will be responsible for meeting and maintaining training and certification requirements as outlined by the department’s training and credentialing requirements.
- May be given responsibility of individual project completion, seeing to its logistics, cleanliness, completion, and client interactions.
- May assist in the setup of barricades and other dividers across campus
- Assists with the assembly, installation, and repair of office and classroom furnishings such as desk, chairs, and whiteboards.
Qualifications
Level I:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License
Level II:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years of experience in carpentry, roofing, road repair, and/or concrete forming and finishing.
- Valid Driver's License
