Coordinator of Events – University Union
Job Summary
The Coordinator of Events is responsible for the scheduling, coordinating, and supporting events held within the University Unions’ facilities and outdoor locations.
Duties & Essential Job Functions
- Coordinates with clients hosting events in the University Unions facilities and outdoor locations by developing the correct room setup; arranging appropriate AV needs; providing additional information on other setup options and resources; and serving as liaison with other University resources to help facilitate event coordination. Assists University Unions’ team with high-priority coordination.
- Provides event support by meeting with clients prior to events; facilitating event layouts and designs; and coordinating event staffing with the University Unions team.
- Offers event advising and programming support for student organizations with events in the Unions.
- Works with the University Unions team to train the TCU community on the utilization of event management software.
- Collaborates with Student Activities on oversight of the Community Commons.
- Creates and implements assessment protocol for the University Unions to help inform building utilization, customer service practices, and student employment development.
- Maintains effective departmental and divisional relationships and knowledge by attending scheduled division, department, Union staff and student assistant meetings.
- Oversees all events and building operations when acting as manager of Unions facilities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience. 3 years’ experience in event coordination including building operations or related experience.
Preferred Education & Experience
Master’s degree. 4-5 years experience in event planning and building management, including staff supervision.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of customer service techniques.
- Knowledge of instruction, facilitation, and training techniques.
- Knowledge of multicultural issues.
- Knowledge of basic financial management principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of building and union operations.
- Knowledge of risk management principles and techniques.
- Skill in all components of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to train, lead and evaluate student staff.
- Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to schedule, plan and coordinate events.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and community members.
- Ability to collaboratively work with physical plant support services, conference services, instructional services, and food services as it relates to events scheduling.
