Job Description
Student Development, Supervision, & Risk Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, coach, mentor and evaluate student and other part-time staff (approximately 50 staff on an annual basis).
- Plan and facilitate regular staff meetings and training sessions for each assigned area including awareness and compliance with all University policies and procedures.
- Assist with the development of program training manuals and materials including safety and risk management practices to meet national standards and University policy.
- In coordination with unit area team and the Talent Management Unit create and implement a comprehensive student development program.
- Communicate job responsibilities and expectations for student employees.
Program Management & Administration
- Plan, develop, schedule, and implement assigned programming, including trip logistics, assessing location-specific risk management, prepping equipment, and briefing student staff and participants as needed.
- Compiles qualitative and quantitative data from post-trip evaluations; provides and maintains reports used in assessment of programmatic quality and goals
- Promote operating policies and procedures for use in assigned programs.
- Enforce University and department policies, procedures, and regulations.
- In tandem with Assistant Director, collaborate with other units within RecSports and on campus to develop new and relevant programs.
- Promote programs by coordinating with marketing & outreach to advertise programs.
Financial, Administrative, & Other Duties as Assigned
- Work in tandem with Assistant Director to develop the operational budgets for assigned programs.
- Monitor budgets throughout the year and assist with quarterly reporting.
- Maintain proper inventory records.
- Serve as an active member on committees, work teams, and other global efforts within the Department of Recreational Sports.
- Prepare and manage bi-weekly payroll and wage schedules and reports.
- Ensure Risk Management & Safety protocol are utilized appropriately within all assigned responsibilities.
- Provide feedback to supervisor regarding the safety and/or condition of programs, equipment, and facilities; conduct daily observations and/or use said equipment and facilities; immediately document and address all safety concerns; and operate a state vehicle as needed.
