Coordinator of Undergraduate Research
Job Summary
The Coordinator of Undergraduate Research reports directly to the Director of Mentored Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors (MURACE). The MURACE Office supports the Associate Provost for Student Engagement and Academic Excellence in advancing the University's undergraduate research activities and creative endeavors.
This position provides essential operational and programmatic support to the MURACE office, encompassing event planning and management, coordination of student travel, budget administration, data collection and assessment, and programmatic communication. The Coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students across the University to support undergraduate research initiatives and ensure the effective delivery of MURACE programs and services.
Responsibilities
Coordination of Student Travel - 25%
- Provide administrative support for the application, processing, and tracking of student travel funding, including travel authorizations and reimbursement submissions.
- Communicate travel policies and procedures to students, ensuring compliance with applicable institutional, state, and federal travel regulations.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all student travel activities, funding awards, and reimbursement transactions.
Data Collection & Program Assessment - 15%
- Document and manage data in funds distributions, participation rates, and assessment data.
Management of Research-Related Events - 25%
- Organize and manage Research Day activities and support GCSU sponsored research activities, including the Posters at the Capitol and internal programming.
Other Administrative Support - 10%
- Provide general administrative support to the MURACE Director and office, including scheduling, correspondence, filing, and records management.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and operations of the MURACE office.
Budget Management for Student Travel - 10%
- Assist in the administration and oversight of student travel funding budgets, ensuring expenditures are tracked accurately and remain within approved allocations.
- Process and reconcile budget transactions, including purchase requests, invoices, and reimbursement documentation.
- Prepare periodic budget reports and funding summaries for the Director's review.
- Coordinate with the Business Office and relevant university offices to ensure compliance with financial policies and procurement procedures.
- Monitor funding balances and alert the Director to budget variances or concerns in a timely manner.
Programmatic Communication - 15%
- Assist and support MURACE in responding to inquiries, promoting events, and managing social media and the MURACE webpage.
