Job Summary/Description/Physical Demands
This position is responsible for supervising lower level custodians while coordinating the day to day cleaning of assigned areas. Duties are performed under the general direction of a Custodial Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Schedule work tasks in order to complete daily tasks.
- Coordinates tasks with external departments;
- Operates on minor equipment malfunctions and performs repairs;
- Works with vendors in providing necessary materials for maintenance and prioritizes tasks and goals;
- Works with Custodial Manager to conduct employee evaluations as required.
- Assist in vacuuming, sweeping, and emptying trash receptacles;
- Assist in cleaning of fixtures, blinds, pictures, shelves, drapes and ashtrays.
- Assist in washing windows.
- Assist in shoveling snow in entryways.
- Assist in cleaning restrooms and kitchens.
- Assist in moving furniture and perform set-ups.
- Assist in shampooing carpets and strips and waxes floors, as required.
- Reports all personnel or building problems immediately to the Custodial Manager for correction.
- Ensures all safety work is being performed at all Facilities on a daily basis.
- Submit building work orders as needed.
- Communicates project coordination to the building occupants on behalf of Facilities Services.
- Assist with filling in or supervisory work of the Recycling Center as needed.
- Must obtain a recycling operator's license within one year of hire.
- Provide feedback to staff and supervisors.
- Assist the Custodial Manager in planning and implementing projects and work as required.
- Provide developmental tools to assist in the growth of others within the department and provides continuous feedback on performance.
- Teaches use of equipment and safety procedures
- Provide twenty (20) hours of staff training per year.
- Maintain regular attendance
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE: 5 years experience in housekeeping, two (2) of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Special Requirements:
- Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays, odd hours, and emergency calls,
- Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instruction.
- Knowledge in properly handling hazardous chemicals and materials.
- Knowledge in proper cleaning techniques.
