  • Permanent position
  • 37.5 hours per week

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

Are you passionate about protecting systems, uncovering threats, and staying one step ahead of cyber adversaries? As a Cybersecurity Analyst, you’ll be at the frontline of defence—monitoring, investigating, and responding to cybersecurity events and incidents. Your work will directly contribute to protecting the University’s people, systems, and information while helping to strengthen our overall security maturity.

In this dynamic and hands-on role, you will:

  • Monitor security events and respond to alerts in real time (“eyes on glass”)
  • Investigate and triage incidents, ensuring timely and effective resolution
  • Conduct threat hunting and vulnerability analysis to proactively identify risks
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to contain and remediate threats
  • Contribute to security awareness initiatives, helping build a security-conscious culture
  • Maintain accurate records and produce reporting to support continuous improvement
  • Advocate for best-practice cybersecurity across the organisation.

Mōu | Who You Are

We are looking for someone who is curious, analytical, and motivated to make a difference. You’ll also have:

  • Experience in an IT-related role (e.g. service desk, networking, security), experience within a tertiary environment is preferable
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity threats, tools, and frameworks (e.g. NIST, MITRE ATT&CK)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for cybersecurity
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. degree in IT, cybersecurity, or similar)
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA CySA+, SSCP, or equivalent
  • An alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
