Position Summary
Under direction, provides daily operational and technical support for the Weill Cornell Medicine Data Core and coordinates technical, administrative, and accounting aspects of the Data Core. This role also supports the management of scientific software licensing.
Job Responsibilities
- Interfaces with end-users of data core and tests their environment to ensure that they have the tools they need and can access the data to which they are provisioned.
- Establishes and tracks project budget expenditures.
- Tracks software licenses used within the Data Core and WCM research community, and explores new software capabilities and costs.
- Updates content on the departmental website.
- Writes technical documentation for end-users and modifies instructions as technological iterations or access privileges require.
- Manages data governance documentation to ensure protocol adherence.
- Gives the approval to provision a user once the IRB or other data use agreement is in place. Identifies the de-provisioning of users immediately if a protocol expires.
- Coordinates the source data import from the users to set up appropriate data in the data core to begin a project and tracks the progress of each project set up.
- Creates surveys to gather end-user data and composes survey results.
- Tracks the projects within the data core, manages resource allocation between projects, and oversees the decommissioning of projects once they close.
- Manages regular monthly communication to Data Core users an Principal Investigators for system patching.
- Performs testing on potential new data core solutions, including proof of concept of using Cloud services for Data Core.
- Reviews non-PHI data exports to ensure that data is permitted to be transferred out of the Data Core environment.
- Completes security attestations for researchers to procure confidential datasets.
- Provides assistive administrative support services for the library, including deaccessioning books/journals, tracking funds expenditures, mail services, statistical data analysis, and augmenting the library's support of its research community.
- Provides library support activities including the receipt and processing of new materials, matching purchase orders with invoices and follow-up with publishers/vendors regarding incomplete/defective or inaccessible information.
Education
- High School Diploma
Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Science or Computer Science preferred.
- Approximately 2 years of prior related experience.
- Preferred candidate should have an understanding of technical terminology with regard to the relationship between servers, storage, firewalls, computing resources, and system permissions.
- Familiarity with relational databases, python or R scripting languages, will be beneficial to the role.
- Preferred candidate will have received training in accounting and/or budget management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service to Data Core users in troubleshooting functional and technical issues.
