Faculty Position – Psychiatry

The Division of Clinical Sciences at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine (UCR SOM) invites applications for faculty positions in the Department of Psychiatry and Neurosciences. We are seeking outstanding clinical educators and clinician-scholars to join our growing academic department and participate in part-time and/or full-time inpatient and outpatient psychiatric practice within an academic medical center environment.
UCR Psychiatry offers a collaborative and mission-driven environment in which faculty practice clinically while working alongside medical students, residents, fellows, and interdisciplinary trainees. Faculty are encouraged and supported in pursuing scholarly, educational, and community-engaged activities. Our department is actively engaged in translational and community-partnered research, with collaborations across the university and with regional healthcare systems.
We welcome applicants with expertise across the full spectrum of psychiatric practice. Individuals with additional fellowship training or board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, or consultation-liaison psychiatry are particularly encouraged to apply.
A limited number of Medical Director roles (inpatient or outpatient) may also be available for qualified applicants with demonstrated leadership experience, including at least five years of clinical experience or a minimum of three years of administrative or program leadership in clinical settings.
We also welcome applicants with clinical, research, or programmatic interests in areas such as:
- LGBTQ+ mental health
- Women's mental health and reproductive psychiatry
- Trauma-related disorders and PTSD
- Health equity and health disparities
- Community psychiatry and population mental health
- Health services research
- Neuropsychiatry
- Developmental disorders and neurodiversity
Experience or interest in telepsychiatry and innovative models of care delivery is desirable. Spanish language proficiency is highly valued given the needs of the communities we serve.

Successful candidates will practice at UCR Health clinical sites and/or affiliated hospitals and practices throughout Riverside County, Orange County, and the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs region).
Faculty appointments may be in one of several academic series, including:
- Professor of Clinical X
- Health Sciences Clinical Professor
- Adunct Professor
- Professor in Residence
Appointments may be made at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Basic Qualifications
- M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree
- Eligible for licensure to practice medicine in the State of California by the time of appointment
- Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (board eligibility limited to within three years of completing residency training)

Candidates must also qualify for medical staff privileges at affiliated clinical sites.
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5 for the salary range. The Base Salary range for this position is $131,200 - $344,400. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
