Department of Sport and Recreation Management - Instructor
Position Summary:
The Department of Sport and Recreation Management in the School of Sport Sciences seeks a broadly trained instructor with demonstrated excellence in innovative undergraduate teaching and mentoring. This position is a full-time, non-tenure track Instructor of Sport and Recreation Management beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to curricular design and assessment with other faculty members, teach undergraduate courses, advise and mentor undergraduate students, be team-oriented with a service-leadership and growth mindset mentality, and foster an inclusive and equitable classroom and work environment. Position will remain open until filled.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Teaching responsibilities include courses in one or more of the following areas: introduction to sport and recreation management, sport governance, facility planning and design, event management, finance, sales and sponsorship, legal aspects
- Teaching load consists of a 5/5 schedule, or 15 contact hours a semester
- Involvement in service to the profession and the Department
- Use of best practices in curriculum development and assessment, including the implementation of student-centered and evidence-based teaching practices
- Mentoring and advising a population of students with multiple intersections of identity (e.g., first-generation, socioeconomic status, non-traditional)
- Consistent, high quality communication with department, colleagues and students
- Search for/create opportunities to enhance student learning outcomes and experiential learning opportunities
- Regular, predictable attendance on campus
- Alignment with University mission, vision, and strategic roadmap
- Other job duties/responsibilities may be assigned

Education and Experience:
- M.S. in Sport Management or closely related field. PhD preferred.
- Teaching experience is preferred.
- Experience developing active learning strategies is preferred.
