Departmental Lecturer in Global and Area Studies
About the Role
The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, supervision, examining, and administration for the MPhil in Global and Area Studies (GAS) while participating actively in the wider academic life of OSGA. The post also offers opportunities for independent research.
Responsibilities include convening and teaching qualitative research methods classes, contributing to the core courses “Competing Approaches in Area Studies” and “Global and Area Studies Seminar,” supervising MPhil dissertations, and undertaking assessment duties. The successful applicant may also convene an existing GAS option or design a new course linked to their expertise.
About You
Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD in a relevant social sciences discipline. Candidates must demonstrate research expertise with comparative, global, or transnational dimensions and show commitment to Global and Area Studies.
The ideal candidate will have a publication profile appropriate to career stage, the ability to contribute effectively to postgraduate teaching, and strong communication and collaborative skills. Experience teaching qualitative research methods and familiarity with comparative area studies would be advantageous.
