Departmental Lecturer in Public International Law

The Faculty of Law is looking to recruit a Departmental Lecturer in Public International Law who will undertake graduate and undergraduate teaching and supervision in that field. The successful candidate will support postholders teaching international law courses by providing lectures for the undergraduate Public International Law course, and tutorial and some seminar teaching in one or more of the following postgraduate taught subjects: International Environmental Law, International Law and Armed Conflict, or International Economic Law.

The successful candidate will engage in internationally leading research in the field of the post; to assist with the development of teaching methods, course design, reading lists and course materials and with the conduct of seminars and tutorials; to examine for the Faculty, including where appropriate qualifying tests and confirmation of status examinations required for research student progression; and attend weekly research seminars, during term, for doctoral students.

The postholder will have a proven record of high-quality research and publication in Public International Law commensurate with their career experience; A doctorate in Public International Law, or anticipated completion (including viva) by the start of the post. Candidates who do not meet this requirement may be considered if they have attained a comparable level through their publications and the ability and willingness to undertake pastoral responsibilities associated with undergraduate and graduate teaching, and administrative duties as required. It would be desirable for candidate to have proven teaching and supervision record.

This role is full time and fixed term for 1 year and based at the Faculty of Law, St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford.
