The Departments of Pathology and Ophthalmology of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Anschutz Medical Campus seek a Dermatopathologist and Ophthalmic Pathologist and Ophthalmologist for an academic practice associated with the University of Colorado Hospital and UCHealth Sue Anschutz-Rogers Eye Center, Aurora, CO. The general responsibilities and expectations of this position mirror the missions of the Departments and affiliated systems, including: excellence in clinical care, medical undergraduate and graduate education and scholarship.
The full-time on site position requires at least five years of academic anatomic pathology practice as well as subspecialty expertise in ophthalmologic pathology, with significant familiarity in correlative clinical and oncologic ophthalmology, including: teaching and research achievements sufficient for recruitment at the rank of Associate Professor. Additional interest and expertise in head and neck pathology particularly involving diseases that affect the eye and periorbital tissues is preferred.
The successful applicant will join a group of more than three dozen academic surgical pathologists who practice on site in fully subspecialized teams. Our subspecialty Ophthalmologic pathology practice includes whole eye, eye and periorbital biopsy pathology and cytology, frozen sections and intra-operative rapid cytologic examination and diagnosis, as well as pathology analyses in other areas of anatomic, clinical and molecular diagnostic pathology. The successful applicant will also practice dermatopathology, and must be experienced in evaluating large surgical resections, smaller and minute samples from all anatomic areas.
Our Ophthalmic and Dermatologic pathologists are active participants in multidisciplinary team based medicine, that may require attendance at multidisciplinary conferences, presentations at inter- or intra-departmental conferences or training seminars. - Train and supervise pathology, and non-pathology residents, and fellows, medical and other graduate students.
- Engage in scholarly activities as broadly defined by the School of Medicine, inclusive of the scholarship of application, teaching, integration, and discovery.
- Maintain exemplary professionalism and continue to develop collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships and support research within and bridging the pathology department/community and ophthalmology department.
