Detective (Assistant Police Supervisor)
Assistant Police Supervisors are police officers with an advanced level of training and experience per the Law Enforcement EHRA guidelines. Assistant Police Supervisors may be assigned to multiple roles within the department to include patrol officer, detective, crime analyst and records manager, community engagement coordinator, training coordinator, recruitment officer, and others.
Police Officers are responsible for enforcing state and local laws and campus regulations. Employees are empowered with full law enforcement authority and are charged with the responsibility of apprehension of criminal offenders, criminal investigation, traffic enforcement and serving of warrants and summons.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
A minimum of an associate degree (or 60 hours of college credit) and 2 years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Associates degree or higher and some experience with a campus environment.
- North Carolina Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate.
- Prior certification as a law enforcement officer with an advanced level of training and experience or military police experience.
- Prior investigation experience.
Required Certifications or Licensures
Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission or the ability to achieve lateral transfer certification within one year of employment.
