Digital Media Specialist
Overview
Auburn University Student Affairs is searching for a Digital Media Specialist to join our Communications and Marketing team!
Under the direction of the Digital Content Manager, this individual will leverage dynamic, creative, and multimedia storytelling to showcase the Auburn student experience through engaging content for web and social media.
The Digital Media Specialist will execute digital marketing strategy and oversee Student Affairs’ presence across online channels. Managing @auburnstudents social media accounts, the selected candidate will implement campaigns across platforms, coordinate the editorial/post calendar, pitch ideas, design and edit content, and package stories that highlight Auburn’s unique traditions, programs, events, and resources.
The Digital Media Specialist will adhere to Auburn University branding guidelines, use best practices in social media marketing, possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and demonstrate a strong commitment to successful collaboration. The selected candidate must be willing to work some evenings and weekends as needed to support student events.

Formal AU Job Title: Producer/Director I
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the AU Student Affairs Communications and Marketing team to produce compelling, creative, and brand-aligned content for web and social media
- Manage @auburnstudents social media accounts by coordinating post calendars; capturing, editing, and posting content; and responding to comments and DMs
- Imagine, design, and launch social media campaigns to increase visibility, optimize engagement, and create connections to AU Student Affairs
- Conduct digital media consultations for Student Affairs clients, analyzing their unique needs and determining the best creative approach to achieve their project goals
- Design and maintain digital screens and videoboards in the Harold D. Melton Student Center and other campus spaces managed by Student Affairs
- Support Student Affairs units with live streaming video for events and social media marketing as needed
- Mentor and oversee student videographers as needed
Qualifications
Level I: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field
Level II: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field and 2 years of experience OR Master’s degree
Level III: Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience OR Master’s degree plus 2 years of experience
Level IV: Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience OR Master’s degree plus 4 years of experience
Scope of Degree: In Journalism, Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field (only applicable to levels one and two)
Scope of Experience: Experience in managing media projects to include producing, directing, and scheduling.
