University Advancement elevates UNCG’s reputation, advances institutional strategy, and fosters community pride through integrated communications aligned with its public mission as a student-centered research university. The department develops and executes strategic communications and marketing initiatives that enhance visibility, engage key audiences, and convey the University’s distinctive value. Working across schools, colleges, and administrative units, University Communications manages media relations, marketing campaigns, content strategy, branding, digital engagement, sponsorships, and crisis communications.
The Director, Office of Enrollment Communications, will serve as the primary strategic leader for the University’s enrollment marketing efforts. The director will closely collaborate with leadership in the Division of Enrollment Management, The Graduate School, the Division of Student Success, University Communications, and various academic units to develop data-driven marketing strategies that increase enrollment (on-campus and online) and improve student experience. This individual is responsible for identifying and understanding marketing needs and leading the planning and executing of multiple, complex integrated campaigns that will drive University enrollment. Specific responsibilities include:
- Annual strategic planning for marketing campaigns (collateral/direct mail/advertising) to support undergraduate and graduate student recruitment (on-campus and online), admission communications, new student onboarding, Financial Aid, Registration, and other business processes for enrolled students.
- Website management for multiple entities including Enrollment, Admissions, Graduate School, and Spartan Central (Financial Aid, Registrar, and Cashiers Office).
- Administration and oversight of content creation for communication-related elements of Undergraduate Admissions and Graduate School CRM systems.
Enrollment Management Partnership & Advocacy (30%)
- Serve as the primary marketing liaison to Enrollment Management leadership and key campus partners including Admissions, Financial Aid, the Registrar, Graduate School, Cashiers Office, and related units.
- Understand institutional enrollment goals and translate complex enrollment policies, processes, and priorities into actionable marketing initiatives and communication plans.
- Advise Enrollment Management leadership on marketing best practices and trends as they relate to key audiences.
- Represent and advocate for the needs, expectations, and perceptions of prospective students and families in institutional messaging, brand positioning, and marketing decision making.
- Provide expert input on university-wide messages and campaigns from an enrollment perspective.

Enrollment Communications Marketing & Campaign Strategy (30%)
- Directly develop and manage enrollment marketing campaigns, communication plans, messaging strategies, and recruitment initiatives.
- Lead audience segmentation, communication planning, and channel strategy for prospective and enrolled student populations.
- Collaborate with creative, web, advertising, content, and social media teams to coordinate campaign execution.
- Review and approve enrollment-focused marketing assets and communications to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and alignment with institutional goals
CRM Communications, Digital Engagement, & Marketing Operations (15%)
- Provide strategic and operational oversight for enrollment communication systems, digital engagement tactics, and related marketing infrastructure.
- Oversee enrollment communication strategy across CRM, email, text messaging, portals, websites, and other student-facing communication channels.
- Partner with technical and operational staff to support communication workflows, automation, campaign deployment, and audience management.
- Lead communication calendar planning and coordination across enrollment-related departments.
- Identify opportunities to improve communication effectiveness through testing, optimization, process improvements, and emerging technologies
Team Leadership & Operational Management (15%)
Lead the enrollment communications team and manage resources, processes, and operations necessary to support enrollment marketing priorities.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop professional staff responsible for enrollment communication planning, CRM operations, and project execution.
- Establish operational priorities, workflows, service standards, and project management practices to support efficient execution.
- Manage enrollment-related marketing budgets, vendor relationships, contracts, and production resources.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Performance Measurement & Insight Development (10%)
- Ensure enrollment marketing decisions are informed by data, audience insights, and enrollment outcomes
- Monitor enrollment funnel trends, campaign performance, and marketing metrics to identify growth opportunities and improve effectiveness.
- Research emerging communication channels, technologies, and best practices and implement recommendations as appropriate.
- Serve as a campus resource and subject matter expert for student communications and enrollment marketing.
